Located in East Texas on the Gulf of Mexico, Corpus Christi attracts countless beach lovers during the summer, with more than one hundred miles of shoreline between the Gulf of Mexico and Corpus Christi Bay. But many visitors actually prefer fall as the best time to visit Corpus Christi beaches. Even as the summer wanes, the warm temperatures in Texas still allow people to enjoy the sand and surf in Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi beach access is unlimited: Texas beaches are open and accessible year-round. There are several nice beaches in Corpus Christi to choose from no matter what season you choose. Here are three of the best beaches in the area:
Padre Island National Seashore
Padre Island National Seashore stretches over 70 miles and is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world. It contains some of the city’s most secluded beaches, including North and South Beaches, Little and Big Shell Beaches, and Closed Beach. There are 30+ miles of sand along the Padre Island National Seashore that remain unmarked as specific beaches but can still be enjoyed by visitors.
Mustang Island State Park
Located on the barrier island just north of Padre Island, Mustang Island State Park is another area that is popular with Corpus Christi beachgoers. It offers five miles of unspoiled shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico for swimming, sunbathing, and sand castle-building. Mustang Island is also a great place to go camping, fishing, and bird-watching, whether you are visiting alone or with family and friends.
Whitecap Beach
Whitecap Beach is a 1.5-mile-long stretch of sunny sand, located between other named beaches–south of Michael J. Ellis Beach and Seawall and north of Padre Balli Park Beach and Bob Hall Pier Beach. It is popular with surfers who can catch great waves here, as well as beachcombers who can enjoy the pedestrian-only part of the shoreline. Beach camping (with campfires!) is permitted at Whitecap Beach, too. It is cleaned daily, making this easy-to-find, white-sand beach a pleasant place to picnic and play.
