Home Paint Color Ideas – When you look at the walls in your home, do their colors draw out any feelings in you? If all the walls in your home are painted white, you may not feel any certain way towards them, but for purples, greens, oranges, and yellows, these colors have meaning on a deeper level, and can evoke strong feelings that you may not even be aware of! Magenta might be your favorite color, but it may not translate when put on the wall in a space that is meant for sleep or relaxation.

It’s fact that colors impact our emotions, and keeping that in mind when picking out paint colors for your home can make all the difference in how you utilize the different rooms in your home and their function for you and your family.

Keep in mind, the suggestions below are simply just suggestions! There are no rules to home décor, interior design, or the paint color that goes on your wall. As long as you like it, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

Below are paint color suggestions based on each room of your home.

Best Color For Kitchen Walls

Your kitchen is most certainly the soul of your home. It’s a gathering space, a joyful space to share a meal, and a creative space to try out new dishes.

What colors evoke the feelings of joy, inspiration, and the closeness of family and friends? Thankfully, there are plenty of options! Start your search for the perfect color by looking at the cabinetry, light fixtures, sinks, appliances, and countertops. What colors would complement the permanent fixtures in your kitchen?

If you have dark colored fixtures and appliances, light paint colors can keep the space from becoming too dark, and will keep you from losing the visual impact of your cabinetry and appliances. Warm-toned neutrals or a toned-down yellow (not pastel!) will keep your kitchen bright, and add nice contrast.

For fixtures and appliances that are light in color, you can do the opposite and dive into rich and deep tones.  Rusty orange, deep yellow, or creamy browns would look great and complement the light in your kitchen nicely.

How Do I Choose A Living Room Color?

What kind of activities do you use your living room for? Is it a space for entertaining, or a place for relaxing? Depending on how you utilize this room and the overall size will affect what colors you will want to put on the walls.

If you have a large living room, say with vaulted ceilings and large panoramic windows, your space could feel overly large, and a little overwhelming. Dark colors, such a grays, greens, and blues, and plum tones can make the space feel a little more intimate for both visitors and your family.

If you living room is more quaint in size, or has lower ceilings, you’ll want to focus on light neutrals colors, and focus on your furniture or interior décor for pops of color. Using dark colors in a small living room can make it feel even smaller, not to mentioned cramped.

Beautiful Bedroom Colors

Home Paint Color Ideas – The main purpose of your bedroom is, well, sleep and relaxation! Colors in the bedroom should reflect your goals for a full 8 hours of sleep. What colors do you find relaxing? We suggest blues, emeralds, or dark plums and purples for a peaceful place to slumber. Take into consideration the furniture and bedding in your bedroom – a neutral color scheme gives you more options to get colorful with your décor, whereas neutral décor can open up paint color options!

Try to stick away from super dark colors, like black, as well as very bright colors, like neon, or bright warm colors, like orange or red. These colors are not usually conducive to relaxation. If you want to have these colors in your bedroom, consider toning them down, or using them in your interior design!
